The
Holy Spirit and The Church, Part 1
What If 3000 People Joined Church Next Sunday?
Scripture lesson: Acts 2:37-47
Key verse: Acts 2:42 They devoted themselves to the
apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the
prayers.
- In one day, a church of 120 received 3,000 new members
- What did they do? They followed the Holy Spirit
- They studied God’s teachings together
- They shared fellowship together
- They broke bread together
- They prayed together
- They took care of each other
- They met in large groups in public places
- They met in small groups in homes
- They gave all the praise to God
- They did it all in a way that gained favor with the
community
- God added more to their number every day

The Holy Spirit Revival Lightning Kite
Scripture lesson: John 3:1-8
Key verse: John 3:8 Just as you can hear the wind but can't
tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can't explain
how people are born of the Spirit.
Revival is like lightning
- It’s the visible effect of an invisible power
- It’s powerful
- It’s unpredictable
- It strikes where it wants to
- You can do things to make it less likely you will be hit
- You can do things to make it more likely you will be hit
- When it hits you it changes your life

Be a First Class Christian
Scripture lesson: 1 Corinthians 1:1-7 and 3:1-3
Key verse Galatians 5:22-23 The fruit of the Spirit is love,
joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness
and self-control.
- There are two classes of Christians: spiritual and fleshly
(1Corinthians 3:1)
- How can you tell the difference?
- Not by their words (Matthew 7:21)
- Not by their religious practices (Luke 11:42)
- Not by their Bible knowledge (John 5:39-40)
- Not by their spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 1:4-7 and 3:1)
- By their lives (Matthew 7:15-20; 1 Corinthians 3:3-4; Galatians
5:19-23)
- Second class Christians live the way their human nature wants
them to; first class Christians live the way the God’s Holy Spirit
wants them to (Galatians 5:13-18, 24-25)
- To be a first class Christian, let go and latch
on
- Let go
- Of the need to please yourself
- Of the need to understand
- Of the need to be in control
- Latch on
- To God’s forgiveness
- To God’s love
- To God’s power
- To the Holy Spirit
How much of yourself will you give to Jesus? He gave his life
for you.

Spirit and The Church, Part 4
SOAR to Revival
Acts 4:23-31
Key verse: Acts 4:31 After this prayer, the building where
they were meeting shook, and they were all filled with the Holy
Spirit. And they preached God's message with
boldness.
- The early church knew how to SOAR with the Holy Spirit
(Seek God,
Offer yourself,
Act in faith,
Repeat)
- They SOARed in the days before Pentecost (Acts 1)
- They SOARed in the days after Pentecost (Acts 2-3)
- They SOARed when they were threatened (Acts 4)
- When they SOARed, God sent revival
- Today’s church needs to SOAR with the Holy Spirit
- We seek God for our church
- We offer our church to God
- We act in faith in our church decisions
- We repeat until God sends revival (then we keep
repeating)
To attract lightning, Ben Franklin had to let his kite soar with
the wind.
To attract revival, we have to let our church SOAR with the Holy
Spirit.

Spirit and The Church, Part 5
Remember to Breathe!
Scripture lesson: Ezekiel 37:1-14
Key verse: Ezekiel 37:14 I will put my Spirit in you, and
you will live.
- The Holy Spirit is the breath of the body of Christ
- The church needs the Holy Spirit as your body needs breath
- To sustain life
- To enable us to speak
- To power our actions
- To remove the used up stuff
- It’s vital for every cell
- Once you start you can’t stop
- Without it
- Shortness of breath is a sign of heart trouble for your body;
shortness of the Holy Spirit is a sign of heart trouble for the
church
- Breathing is a rhythm for your body and for the church
- Breathe in – be filled with the Holy Spirit
- Breathe out – bless others through the Holy Spirit
- If you keep breathing in without breathing out, you’ll
pop!
- If you keep breathing out without breathing in, you’ll
deflate!
- Remember to breathe
