Service Opportunities at Trinity

“Ministries” is church-speak for ways we can serve.

If you are interested in giving back to God or just to those who could use some help, Trinity is the place for you.

There are two main ways we serve.

The first is by doing things that advance the seven purposes of church:

  • Loving God
  • Loving each other
  • Growing like Jesus
  • Helping people
  • Inviting people into God’s family
  • Influencing society
  • Powering it all through prayer that changes things

The second way to serve is through the behind-the scenes work that makes these ministries possible.

Various groups, teams and committees focus on different ways of serving. They are all coordinated by the Church Council, which is divided into a ministries wing and an administrative wing.

Making sure it all functions and stays on track Biblically is one of the responsibilities of the Pastor in Charge, who is appointed by the Bishop.

If you are interested in hands-on serving, we’d love to have you help us with any of these areas:

  • Worship – musicians and singers, sound and video folks, ushers and greeters, liturgists (to give announcements, read the Bible passage, and so on), and altar guild workers to take care of flowers, candles, Communion supplies, and church decoration
  • Children’s Discipleship – nursery workers, Sunday School teachers, youth leaders, Vacation Bible School workers, and people for special events like seasonal parties and Night in Bethlehem
  • Adult Discipleship – Bible study leaders, adult Sunday School teachers, small group leaders, men’s and women’s group leaders, and folks to plan and work on special events
  • Fellowship – cooks and kitchen workers for Thursday night dinners, Sunday coffee hour and other eating events (we have a lot of them!), helpers with adult and Young at Heart (seniors) activities, and people to work with our various clubs and fun groups and activities
  • Outreach – folks to figure out ways to carry God’s love outside our church walls and welcome those who come in,
  • Missions – help us support those who are called to God’s work in special ways in Annapolis and around the world, and get involved in our own mission activities
  • Prayer – from beginners to experienced intercessors, prayer in various groups and individually is a vital ministry that undergirds everything else we do

These kinds of ministries don’t just happen. Someone needs to look after the resources that make them possible.

If that’s where your gifts and interests lie, talk to us about serving on one of the following committees:
  • Nominations and Leadership Development – identify and support volunteer workers
  • Staff-Parish Relations – support the pastor and paid staff
  • Trustees – look after buildings and grounds, major equipment and legal issues
  • Finance – see that God’s money, given by God’s people, is responsibly used for God’s purposes

If you have an idea or a passion for serving in any of these ways, or in ways we haven’t thought of, please talk to Pastor David or any of our church leaders.

You could be an answer to prayer!

Service Opportunities also can be found in Small Groups.

Many of them offer either short term or year round opportunities of involvment.
