Love: Essential and Eternal

Key Verse -  1 Corinthians 13:1-13

Sermon key verse: 1 Corinthians 13:13 There are three things that will endure—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.

Love is essential (verses 1-3)
  • Love gives meaning to our expressions
  • Love gives purpose to our knowledge
  • Love gives integrity to our faith
  • Love gives value to our sacrifices
Love is definable (verses 4-7)
  • Beware of counterfeit love
  • Real love shows itself in relationships
  • The next three weeks we will examine real love
Love is eternal (verses 8-13)
  • Many gifts of God are only needed in this life
  • Love will endure throughout eternity
  • Focus your life on what will endure!

How Love Acts

What Love Wants

Scripture lesson: 1 Corinthians 13:1-13

  • Love wants to get along
  • Love wants good memories
  • Love wants people treated right
  • Love wants things out in the open

What Love Thinks

  • “Love always gives the benefit of the doubt.”
  • Love thinks the best: hopes all things
  • “It will be alright in the end; if it is not alright, it is not yet the end.”
